A demanding high-altitude pilgrimage from Kathmandu to Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash, including acclimatisation, border formalities and the three-day Kailash parikrama. Travel is subject to permits, health clearance, weather and government regulations.
Route: Kathmandu → Syabrubesi → Keyrong → Saga → Lake Mansarovar → Darchen → Dirapuk → Zuthulpuk → Mount Kailash
Duration: 14 days / 13 nights
Arrive at Kathmandu International Airport, meet the local representative and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for rest and preparation. Dinner and overnight in Kathmandu.
Visit Pashupatinath Temple, Jal Narayan or Sleeping Vishnu Temple and Guheshwari Temple. Attend the trip briefing and complete final preparation for the Nepal–Tibet journey. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi through mountain roads and rural landscapes. Check in at a guesthouse on arrival and rest for the night.
Drive to the Rasuwagadhi border, complete Nepal and China immigration formalities and continue by the designated Tibetan vehicle to Keyrong. Check in and rest at the guesthouse.
Use the day for acclimatisation, short walks and rest in Keyrong. The tour leader will monitor the group and prepare everyone for higher altitudes.
Travel across the Tibetan plateau towards Saga or Dongba, crossing the Yarlung Tsangpo or Brahmaputra River. Overnight at the confirmed hotel or guesthouse.
Drive through the high Tibetan landscape towards Lake Mansarovar and receive the first views of Mount Kailash, weather permitting. Check in near the lake for dinner and overnight stay.
Spend the morning by Lake Mansarovar for prayers and rituals while following local environmental and safety rules. Continue via Rakshas Tal and Chiu Gompa towards Darchen, the base for the Kailash parikrama.
Travel to Tarboche and Yama Dwar, then begin the approximately 12-kilometre trek to Dirapuk. Walk slowly at high altitude and stay overnight in a basic guesthouse near the north face of Mount Kailash.
Begin early for the most demanding trekking day, crossing Dolma La Pass and descending past Gauri Kund towards Zuthulpuk. The route is strenuous and must be attempted only with guide and medical clearance.
Complete the final section of the trek, meet the vehicles near Darchen and drive back towards Saga, completing the remaining Lake Mansarovar circuit by road where permitted. Overnight in Saga.
Drive back across the Tibetan plateau to Keyrong, enjoying Himalayan and lake views along the route. Overnight in Keyrong.
Travel to the border, complete immigration formalities at Rasuwagadhi and continue by road to Kathmandu. Dinner and overnight in Kathmandu.
Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport according to the flight schedule for the onward journey.
